
LeBlanc Leads Lehigh On Day One Of Patriot League Championship

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team opened play at the Patriot League Championship with an opening round 300 Friday on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. Sophomore Aiden LeBlanc shot even par 72 to lead Lehigh as the Mountain Hawks sit in sixth place out of eight teams after day one.

Competition was tight Friday with just 12 strokes separating first-place Army West Point (291) from eighth place Bucknell (303). Lehigh is nine strokes behind the Black Knights and just four behind Lafayette and Loyola, who are tied for second.

LeBlanc was two under through nine holes with two birdies and seven pars and then two over on the back nine with seven more pars and two bogeys. He is tied for third place, two strokes behind leader Sean Saw of Lafayette.

Lehigh's No. 2 player on Friday was graduate student Sam Barton, who shot 75 and is tied for 18th place. Barton carded one birdie, on the par 5 15th hole.

Junior Jahan Bains matched LeBlanc with two birdies and is tied for 23rd place after shooting 76. Bains also birdied 15 and added a birdie on the second hole.

Graduate student David Hurly was even through 10 holes with one birdie and finished with a 77 as he sits in a tie for 29th place.

Sophomore Will Caronchi carded a 79 and is tied for 40th place, while senior Edmund Broderick is tied for 43rd after shooting 80.

Saturday's second round will begin at 9 a.m. with Lehigh playing alongside Holy Cross and Navy with tee times beginning at 10 a.m.
