BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh football program will wrap up its spring practice segment with the annual Brown and White Game set for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Goodman Stadium. Admission is free for the event as the Mountain Hawks, under first-year head coach Kevin Cahill, showcase their growth and progression as they reach the end of their 15-practice spring segment.
Â
"Spring practice has flown by," Cahill stated. "We've made progress in areas and are still working to make progress in many other areas. The players have been working hard. They are hungry for growth and not afraid to work for it.
Â
"This team has a strong work ethic," Cahill continued. "They are not afraid to put the work in to improve. The off-season workouts were competitive and the players worked to make each other better. We have become a closer team because of the willingness to work for each other. I'm excited to see this continued growth."
Â
Saturday's Brown and White Game will feature a variety of situational scrimmage situations pitting the offense against the defense. There will also be positional drills and special teams work.
Â
"We are looking forward to capping off a great spring ball season on Saturday," Cahill said. "We have made many strides in a lot of key areas. We still have a lot of questions about personnel, scheme and depth charts. Those won't be answered Saturday, but it is a big part of the evaluation process."Â
Â
Breaks in the action will feature opportunities for kids to test their football skills on the field at Goodman Stadium for the chance to win Lehigh Football prizes.
Â
"We are looking forward to a great day in Goodman," Cahill said. "We hope the fans come and enjoy the interactive experience with our players and coaches. It'll be a great view as to what the Lehigh Football family is all about."
Â
Prior to the start of Saturday's Brown and White Game, Lehigh will award the Jim Gum Scholarship, which is presented in memory of former Lehigh football player James S. Gum '84.
Â
Cahill and his staff inherit a roster that returns 35 letter winners from 2022 including second team All-Patriot League linebacker Mike DeNucci and wide receiver Geoffrey Jamiel, the league's Rookie of the Year. Lehigh returns its top two passers, two of it's top three rushers and three of its top four receivers from a season ago. DeNucci is the top returning tackler and Lehigh returns three of its top five sack leaders from last year.
Â
The Mountain Hawks will open the 2023 season at home against Villanova on Saturday Sept. 2 at Goodman Stadium. Lehigh football season tickets are now on sale for the 2023 campaign that includes five home games, culminating in the 159th meeting of Lehigh-Lafayette, Nov. 19 at Goodman Stadium. Â
