Two Mountain Hawks in Top 10 After Day One at Lady Bison Invitational

BALTIMORE – In its final event before the Patriot League Championship, the Lehigh women's golf team opened Howard's Lady Bison Invitational by shooting 627 over 36 holes Monday at Baltimore Country Club. The Mountain Hawks opened the day with a strong 307 in the morning and then shot 327 in the afternoon, as Lehigh sits in sixth place out of nine teams.
Sophomore Madison Pineda led the way for Lehigh on Monday, shooting 152 (77-75) to sit in a tie for sixth place. Pineda carded three birdies in her opening round 77 and made a birdie and an eagle in round two.
Two strokes behind Pineda is first-year Yuki Zhu, who is tied for eighth place at 154 (75-79). Zhu led Lehigh in a first round that included three birdies. She added two more birdies in the afternoon.
Senior Hannah Foster is the third Mountain Hawk in the top 20 as she sits in a tie for 20th place at 158 (76-82). Foster made a birdie in each round and also eagled the par-4 18th hole in the afternoon.
First-year Evelyn Wong is tied for 32nd place at 163 (79-84) and made a pair of birdies in her morning round.
Senior Iris Shin is tied for 38th place at 168 (82-86) and birdied her second hole of the day on Monday.
Georgetown leads the team race at 604 after rounds of 299 and 305. The Hoyas lead host Howard by five and Merrimack sits in third 15 strokes off the pace.
Merrimack's Prakuthi Sastry and Howard's Kendall Jackson are tied for the individual lead at one over par 145. They lead Georgetown's Megan Gormley by one stroke.
The Lady Bison Invitational concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes at Baltimore Country Club.
