Mountain Hawks Complete Day One At Lehigh Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Breezy conditions and fast greens greeted players on day one of the Lehigh Invitational, Monday on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. The Lehigh women's golf team shot 325 Monday with the Mountain Hawks in ninth place out of 16 teams entering Tuesday's final round.

Sophomore Yuki Zhu led the way for the Mountain Hawks, shooting 77 Monday to sit in a tie for 11th place. Zhu made one birdie, on the par 3, 11th hole.

Junior Madison Pineda and senior Venecia Zaia both shot 80 and are tied for 27th place. Pineda carded a team-leading three birdies in her opening round.

First-year Olivia Lu moved into Lehigh's scoring lineup in a late change and shot 88 to tie for 69th place. Classmate Bella Scanapicco shot 92 and is tied for 78th place.

Junior Sophie Chang is competing as an individual. She shot 82 Monday and is tied for 36th place. Chang birdied the 17th hole in Monday's opening round.

Howard shot 308 to take the 18-hole team lead. The Bison lead FDU and Fairfield by three strokes.

Individually, UAlbany's Mariel Tee and Fairfield's Julia Towne share the overall lead at one over par 73. They lead Howard's Marley Franklin by one stroke.

The Lehigh Invitational concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes beginning at 9:30 a.m.
