Lehigh's Offense Struggles in Loss to American

WASHINGTON D.C. - Lehigh men's soccer's offensive woes continued against American as the Mountain Hawks fell 2-0 to American Saturday afternoon at Reeves Field.Â
Lehigh is now 2-9-5 (1-4-2 PL), and the Eagles are 5-4-4 (2-2-3 PL). The Mountain Hawks were kept off the score sheet for the fourth straight game.Â
The first half would be a defensive battle between both teams, as they were all squared at zero after the first 45 minutes of action.Â
It didn't take long for American to get on the board in the second half as Mustapha Sowe opened the scoring in the 50th minute.Â
Taku Takahaski scored the insurance goal in the 80th minute. Lehigh struggled to find an answer.Â
The Eagles outshot the Mountain Hawks 10-5. American had seven corner kicks, while Lehigh had five corner kicks.Â
Senior goalkeeper Blake Koski was credited with one save for Lehigh. Matthew Tibbetts saved two shots for the Eagles.
Emmett Shea and Perry Kingson were the two Mountain Hawks to tally a shot on goal. Shea had a team-high two shots.Â
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Saturday on Senior Night against Holy Cross. Kick off is slated for 6 p.m., and the game will be aired on ESPN+.Â
