Strong Final Round Lifts Mountain Hawks To Eighth Place At Alex Lagowitz Memorial

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Lehigh men's golf team closed out its first fall tournament with a strong showing Sunday. The Mountain Hawks shot three under par 285, the second-lowest score of the day, to move up to eighth place out of 14 teams at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial at Seven Oaks Golf Club. Lehigh finished its first fall event with a final total of 878 (298-295-285) to move up three spots in the team standings.
 
Lehigh had three players shoot even par or better in Sunday's final round. Sophomore Aidan Oehrle was the top performer on Sunday with a round of three under par 69. Oehrle made four birdies and just one bogey on Friday. He tied for 35th place at 222 (77-76-69).
 
The Mountain Hawks' top finisher was junior Edmund Broderick, who tied for 18th place at 218 (73-71-74). Broderick made three birdies in his final round.
 
Senior David Hurly shot two under par 70 Sunday after two rounds of 75 on Saturday. He moved up to a tie for 27th place at 220. Hurly had two birdies and an eagle in Sunday's final round.
 
First-year Jake Roth made four birdies in a final round 72. Roth tied for 33rd place at 221 (76-73-72). Roth's classmate Will Caronchi tied for 59th place at 228 (75-78-75). Caronchi made one birdie in his final round.
 
Sophomore Jahan Bains finished with a final total of 235 (75-81-79) and tied for 79th place.
 
Seton Hall led wire-to-wire to take the team title at 23 under par 841 (277-280-284). The Pirates posted a 12 stroke victory over Yale.
 
The individual medalist was Seton Hall's Wanxi Sun, who shot 11 under par 205 (67-68-70) to defeat Villanova's Ryan Pamer by five strokes.
 
Lehigh will be back in action next weekend at The Doc Gimmler, hosted by St. John's on the Red Course at Bethpage State Park, Sept. 10-11.
