Mountain Hawks Kick Off League Play at Lafayette Friday, at Bucknell Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Patriot League play officially begins this weekend for the Lehigh volleyball team as the Mountain Hawks visit Lafayette on Friday and Bucknell on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks (8-3) will travel to Easton, Pa. to take on the Leopards at 6 p.m. before closing out the weekend in Lewisburg, Pa. against the Bison at 2 p.m. on Saturday.Â
Sophomore Megan Schulte currently leads the team in kills. Schulte has 113 kills so far this season, averaging 3.77 per set. Sophomore Emily Stewart, who is currently ranked fourth in NCAA DI, has a team and league-high .467 hitting percentage. Stewart currently leads the league in blocks, totaling 45 blocks so far this season.Â
Setter Makena Smith has been having a solid season for the Mountain Hawks. The sophomore, who recently earned her 1000th assist against Hartford, has 370 assists so far this season. Smith averages 9.07 assists per set.Â
Lafayette is currently 3-4 on the season with wins against New Hampshire, Manhattan and St. Peter's highlighting the 2022 season.Â
Abby Nieporte leads Lafayette with 92 kills, followed by Carol Ulichney with 54 and Phoebe Glass with 51. Alyssa Vitale has 183 assists for Lafayette this season. Hannah Ehrich-Pollock has a team-high 13 blocks this season while Katie Weston leads the Leopards with 99 digs.Â
Lehigh leads the all-time series against Lafayette 62-34. The Mountain Hawks have dropped four straight meetings against the Leopards and are searching for their first victory since 2019.Â
Bucknell has had a strong start to the 2022 season. The Bison are currently 7-2 with tournament titles at the Saint Francis Tournament and Bucknell Invitational highlighting their schedule.Â
Bri Frazilus leads the Bison with 109 kills, followed by Catherine Jamison who has 107 kills. Bucknell's Jordan Hardy has a team-high 189 digs for the year while Allie Lopez has 25 blocks for Bucknell.Â
The Mountain Hawks lead the all-time series against the Bison 54-30. Lehigh won seven straight against Bucknell before falling to the Bison 3-2 last November. Both matches this weekend will be streamed on ESPN+. Live stats will be available on both Friday and Saturday.
