Schulte Named Patriot League Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore outside hitter Megan Schulte opened her 2022 season with capturing the first Patriot League Player of the Week award of the season. She was a main cog in the Lehigh volleyball team going 3-0 at the FAU Invitational over the weekend, winning nine straight sets.
Schulte totaled 40 kills over three matches, averaging 5.00 kills per set and hitting .346 for the weekend. She matched a career-high 21 kills in the season-opener vs. Mercer with a .389 attack percentage. Against Alabama A&M, she registered eight kills and only one error for a .467 hitting percentage with four service aces and three digs. Schulte finished the weekend vs. host Florida Atlantic with 11 kills and eight digs.
This marks Schulte's first Player of the Week honor of her career after being named Patriot League Rookie of the Week twice in 2021.
First-year right side hitter Natalie Luscomb was named an honorable mention for her performances over the weekend, totaling 21 kills (with only three errors) and hitting .383 including .615 in her collegiate debut. She also totaled eight blocks.
Lehigh hosts the Steel Classic Tournament this weekend with matchups against Cleveland State (1:30 p.m.) and Buffalo (7:30 p.m.) on Friday night. The Mountain Hawks host Rider at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
