BALTIMORE – Former Lehigh volleyball assistant coach Xiomara "Zee" Ortiz was named the head coach at Morgan State University on Wednesday afternoon. Ortiz becomes the first assistant under head coach Alexa Keckler at Lehigh to enter the head coaching ranks.

Ortiz spent three seasons at Lehigh, one with all-time wins leader Bob Bertucci and two with Keckler before leaving to take the assistant coach position at Shippensburg the last two years.

Specializing in working with the liberos and defensive specialists at Lehigh, Ortiz also served as the recruiting coordinator. In the last year of her time in Bethlehem, she also was involved in conversations with the Patriot League coaches to initiate the Patriot League's Anti-Racism Commission, as well as serving as an advisor to Lehigh's Student-Athletes of Color (SAOC) leadership group.

"We are so happy for Zee and her appointment of Head Volleyball Coach at Morgan State," Keckler said. "I am excited to see the great things that she is able to accomplish there. The young women she will be coaching are lucky to have her!"

Ortiz replaces Ramona Riley-Bozier, who retired from coaching in December following 34 years at the helm of the program. Riley-Bozier transitioned into an administrative role at Morgan State as the new Assistant Director of Intramurals and Wellness.
