Mountain Hawks close book on regular season at ESU Invite Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's and men's swimming and diving programs conclude their regular seasons on Saturday afternoon visiting East Stroudsburg University for the ESU Invite at 1 p.m. inside Koehler Fieldhouse.

For the women, it'll be a quad-meet against NCAA Division II opponents including host East Stroudsburg, Kutztown and Millersville. All three programs do not sponsor men's swimming and diving so the Lehigh men will compete for times against each other.

The Mountain Hawks are coming off tough losses to Army West Point on both sides last weekend in the final Patriot League battle before Patriot League Championships begin in two weeks in Annapolis.

Fifth-year senior Ann Foley once again led the women in the pool against the Black Knights swimming to three individual first-place finishes in the 50 (23.57), 100 (51.41) and 200-yard freestyle (1:51.82) events, while also anchoring the 400-yard freestyle relay team to a first-place finish, swimming to a time of 3:30.00.

In addition to Foley's wins, Lehigh got victories from the first-year tandem of Natalie Martin and Maggie Mikalic, finishes first in distance races in the 1000-yard (10:33.79) and 500-yard (5:09.68) events, respectively.

Saturday will be a good tune-up for Foley, as well as Patriot League hopefuls Sarah Hardy and Danielle Prekop, who have both had very strong performances throughout this season so far.

On the men's side, there weren't a ton of positives against Army in the pool on Friday as the Mountain Hawks totaled four first-place finishes. The biggest victory of the night by far was in the 400-yard freestyle relay as the team of Alex Patti, Aiden McCurley, Tim Norris and Connor Goodyear swam to a win with a time of 3:10.40. Lehigh got the 1-2-3 finish in the event as the team of Caleb Eberly, Janik Wing, Nick Lynam and Keagan Casey were just six seconds slower at 3:16.32.

On the diving boards, senior Addison Cochran picked up a pair of third-place finishes in the one-meter (246.53) and three-meter dives (223.73).

Saturday at ESU will be a really good opportunity for the men to work on their times ahead of Patriots in a couple weeks as seniors Owen Thomas (backstroke, butterfly) and Glenn Lasco (freestyle) are both top competitors in their respective events come the middle of the month.

The Lehigh women will compete for scores against ESU, Kutztown and Millersville while no team score will be calculated for the men.

A free livestream on Saturday's event will be available through ESU's website.
