Pineda Paces Lehigh on Day One of Sacred Heart Fall Classic

MILFORD, Conn. – The Lehigh women's golf team opened up action at the Sacred Heart Fall Classic with an opening round 327 Sunday at Great River Golf Club. Play was suspended Sunday evening with two groups still on the golf course so round one will be completed Monday morning prior to the final round.
 
Sophomore Madison Pineda led the way for the Mountain Hawks with an opening round four over par 76 as she sits in a tie for 10th place. Pineda's round included a birdie on the par 3 eighth hole and a 37 on the back nine.
 
Junior Meghna Grover also made one birdie in her opening round 81. Grover is tied for 26th place.
 
First-year Yuki Zhu carded an 84 and is tied for 39th place. Zhu birdied the second hole in her opening round.
 
Also competing for Lehigh's scoring team were senior Hannah Foster and sophomore Sophie Chang. Foster is tied for 44th place following an 86, while Chang shot 89 and is tied for 55th place.
 
Senior Marina Mendez is competing as an individual and shot 96 as she sits in 62nd place.
 
Host Sacred Heart shot 296 and leads Boston University by three strokes heading into the final round.
 
Three players shot one over par 73 to share the individual lead: Julia Towne of Fairfield, Margot Rouquette of Sacred Heart and Flair Kuan of Boston University. Madeline Adam of Hartford is also one over par through 17 holes.
 
The Sacred Heart Fall Classic concludes Monday with the completion of round one followed by the final round. Monday's second round will feature a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start.
