Spring 2021 Lehigh Football Preview: Defensive Line

Lehigh's defensive line played a major role in the Mountain Hawks' defensive improvement in 2019. The Mountain Hawks allowed nearly 100 fewer yards on the ground than the season before, while registering 14 more sacks. The returning defensive line group accounted for 11 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss in 2019.

Senior Erik Slater and sophomore Mikhari Sibblis lead the way at the defensive end spots. Slater broke through with 12 tackles for loss and four sacks while possessing the ability to play as a defensive end or a rushing outside linebacker. Sibblis contributed six tackles for loss and four sacks and was recognized as a freshman All-America by HERO Sports.

Sophomores Jackson Michaels, Stephon Bland and Michael Callahan will all work at the defensive end spots. Bland moves to the defensive line after playing linebacker as a freshman.

On the interior, Lehigh returns junior Michael Laurencelle, who played in all 11 games and made seven starts and sophomore Dean Colton, who saw time in seven games. Senior Zac Troxell will also vie for time in the defensive line rotation.
