March Mania is Here!

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – March Mania 2021 is underway! The two-day giving campaign kicked off at 12:01 this morning and will continue through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31. March Mania provides an opportunity for Lehigh Alumni, families and friends to demonstrate their passion and support for Lehigh Athletics or their favorite Lehigh sport, while helping offset serious budget shortfalls.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the collegiate experience of many student-athletes, and may continue to have an adverse impact on future semesters. Due to the NCAA cutting national distributions to member institutions, and canceled revenue-generating events and entrepreneurial activities during the 2019-20 academic year, there is a greater financial burden on the Lehigh Athletics Department to raise operating dollars. Support from our community will allow teams to maintain staff, travel for competition and recruitment, purchase essential equipment, and fund key student-athlete experiences. Our goal is to minimize the unique financial impact our teams will face ... but we need your help!
Gifts may go to the sport program of your choice, multiple sport programs, and/or the General Unrestricted Athletics Partnership Fund. In any given year, the dollars raised via the General Athletics Partnership Fund go towards staffing assistance, program budget augmentation, and special projects. This year, one of the most important items this unrestricted fund will aim to cover is COVID-19 screening tests.
One of the elements of previous March Mania campaigns has been competition among sport program alumni groups. This year, the competition will be scored according to the percentage of participation in giving among each of our sports' alumni bodies during the March Mania giving period. The top five sports alumni bodies will earn extra funds for their programs. In addition, the sport team with the top dollars, and the sport team with the top donors will earn extra funds for their respective programs.
Here's the breakdown:
Highest alumni participation rate by sport unlocks -
1st - $3,000
2nd - $2,500
3rd - $2,000
4th - $1,500
5th - $1,000
Sport with the most overall dollars unlocks - $1,000
Sport with the most overall donors unlocks - $1,000
Total Prize Money - $12,000
Several generous donors have offered additional challenge gifts supporting specific sport programs. These additional challenges can be found on each sport specific page, and can be found on the CHALLENGE tab of the March Mania website.
Gifts can be made on March 30-31 online by clicking on the sport(s) program(s) of your choice or the General Unrestricted Athletic Partnership Fund. Using our secure online giving form, you are able to make a one-time gift, recurring gift, or pledge/pledge payment using a VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover credit card. Giving online saves time and decreases processing costs for Lehigh Athletics.
Donations may also be mailed. Please make checks payable to "Lehigh University" and indicate the sport program(s) or General Unrestricted Athletics Partnership Fund, and "March Mania" on the memo line of the check.
