WORCESTER, Mass. – Looking to get a handle on one of the four postseason berths in the Patriot League Tournament starting next weekend, the Lehigh volleyball team couldn't overcome Holy Cross on Friday night, falling in straight sets (26-28, 13-25, 21-25) to fall to 3-5 with one match remaining on Saturday against the Crusaders.

Like most matches this season, the Mountain Hawks were led by the three-headed monster of seniors Hannah Wright and Sabrina Lancaster, and freshman Lylah Washington. Wright and Lancaster finished with 11 kills each, while Washington picked up her second straight double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs.

Lehigh got off to a great start in the first set, taking a 9-3 advantage early on. The Mountain Hawks got the lead up to 12-6, but Holy Cross took seven of the next eight points to tie it at 13. Both teams went back and forth while Lehigh made it 24-20 at match point, however an 8-2 push to close out the set gave HC a 28-26 win.

The Crusaders controlled the entirety of the second set, leading by as many as 12 points late in the set and holding onto the 12-point victory at a 25-13 decision.

While Lehigh was able to pull even with Holy Cross several times throughout the third set, the Crusaders never let the Mountain Hawks get back out in front. Lehigh was within one point at 16-15, but three kills and a Sophia Meagher attack error had the Crusaders pulling out in front, 20-15. Four straight Lehigh points led by Wright and Lancaster had Lehigh within one again, but Holy Cross won five of the last seven to take the set, 25-21 and the 3-0 match victory.

The Mountain Hawks never really got their footing from the tail end of the first set on, hitting just .084 for the match with 26 errors.

Alina Lam registered a double-double with 17 assists and 12 digs, while Ally Thaw finished with 12 digs at libero. Sophie Robinson was the Mountain Hawks' leading blocker with three block assists as the team finished with four as a team.

Lehigh finishes out the regular season slate on Saturday against Holy Cross at 5 p.m.
