Men's XC ready for opening dual against Loyola (Md.) on Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's cross country team will kick off its season Saturday evening when they host Loyola (Md.) inside Rauch Fieldhouse at 4:45 p.m. The scheduled run will be a 5K.

The Mountain Hawks were originally scheduled to travel to Lewisburg and run against the Bison, however Lehigh will instead welcome in the Greyhounds.

Just last week, the Patriot League released the schedules for all of the sports that will be competing in the spring. This unique schedule will still count as the 2020 season for Lehigh. After this weekend's run against Loyola (Md.), the Mountain Hawks will race against their rival Lafayette next Saturday in Easton. Then once after the Leopards, Lehigh will partake in the Patriot League Championships on Mar. 5 in Easton.

This year's squad will be quite interesting for the Mountain Hawks, as Lehigh returns a plethora of talented runners. Coach Todd Etters returns the majority of his top runners from a season ago in Sean Brown, Brad DeMassa, Connor Melko, Michael Mitchell and Nick Norton. Etters will also look upon to Kyle Burke, Brandtson Duffie and Avery Lederer to round out the Brown and White's lineup.

Four new runners will compete for Lehigh during this unique season. Brian Healy, James Keaney, Griffin Pumilia and Will Tikiob will all look to turn heads and help contribute.

Some bright spots during the previous season included dominating the opening Lehigh Invitational. The Mountain Hawks dominated the 8-team field by placing seven runners inside the top 10. Another huge bright spot came against rival Lafayette, as the Brown and White defeated the Leopards for the 21st straight time. With six of the top seven runners, Lehigh throttled Lafayette 17-44. At the 46th Annual Paul Short Run, Lehigh finished 24th among the 44-team field.

Last year's season concluded with Lehigh finishing fourth in the Patriot League Championships, while then taking 12th in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.

NOTE: There will be no spectators allowed inside Rauch Fieldhouse for the cross country dual meet..
