BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh Athletics is committed to developing a just, equitable, inclusive and anti-racist community of learners in which student-athletes, coaches, staff and broader constituencies strive to learn, grow and lead together. With that in mind, this fall, numerous members of the Athletics department – from coaches to staff members, have been actively engaged through working groups to carry out the strategic objectives that were identified in the Athletics D.I.E.A.R. plan. One important action step was the creation of a D.I.E.A.R. website where the department's external plan is housed.

"Transparency about our (D.I.E.A.R.) plans and the progress we make is important to the credibility and the accountability of our efforts to build an ever-stronger community within Athletics," said Murray H. Goodman '48 Dean of Athletics Joe Sterrett. "We created a website where we can share our intentions and record the achievements of our staff and student athletes."

The website includes everything from to the comprehensive external plan itself, to a very detailed timeline, a link to campus D.I.E.A.R. events and much more.

"Our Advisory Council is excited and grateful for the work that has been undertaken this fall by so many constituents across our athletic department and University in executing the strategic objectives of our D.I.E.A.R. plan," said Sue Troyan, head women's basketball coach and member of the D.I.E.A.R. Advisory Council. "The creation of our website and external plan has been a collaborative process involving many different working groups, and speaks to the team-first approach our department has adopted around the execution of our plan and this important work."

Another powerful part of the website is Lehigh Athletics' declaration of its commitment to inclusive excellence and an equitable community of learners.

"I continue to be impressed by the work of our department staff and athletes and by the strength and enduring nature of their convictions," said Sterrett. "Understanding and embracing the value of diversity, inclusion, equity and community are essential to effective 21st century leadership, just as they have always been vital to any team that aspires to create a championship culture."
