Shin paces Mountain Hawks in round one of Benbow Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With freshman Iris Shin leading the way, the Lehigh women's golf team opened the Benbow Invitational with an opening round 337 Monday at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Course. Shin shot an 80 to sit in a tie for 23rd place after day one while as a team, the Mountain Hawks are 12th out of 14.
 
Senior Minuette Laessig carded the second lowest score of the day for Lehigh, an 83 and is tied for 38th place, while junior Angela Ding was one stroke behind Laessig and is tied for 45th.
 
Lehigh's two other scoring players are senior Rebecca Markunas and freshman Hannah Foster. Markunas shot 90 and is tied for 71st place, while Foster is tie for 74th following a 91.
 
Freshman Marina Mendez is competing as an individual and shot 96 as she is tied for 81st place.
 
Quinnipiac had four players break 80 on Monday as the Bobcats shot 308 to lead St. John's by one stroke and Radford by six.
 
Valparaiso's Kayla Krueger holds the individual lead at three over par 74 as she leads Jessie Kweon of St. John's and Radford's Natalie Welsh by one stroke.
 
The Benbow Invitational concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes of play. A shotgun start has been moved up to 8:45 a.m.
