36th Annual Lehigh Athletics Golf Classic Has Been Postponed

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following the recent university decision to put a temporary pause on athletic department activity due to the recent development of student COVID-19 cases, the Lehigh Athletics Partnership has decided to postpone the 36th annual Lehigh Athletics Golf Classic.
The annual event, which regularly gathers a group of nearly 100 alumni, donors, and fans, was slated to be held at Saucon Valley Country Club on October 16. The golf outing was created as a way for supporters of Lehigh Athletics to celebrate the friendships and bonds that Lehigh Athletics has helped to develop over the years. The event also serves as an opportunity for Lehigh Athletics coaches and staff to meet, mingle, and update alumni and donors of the latest news and intentions of Lehigh Athletics.Â
The Lehigh Athletics Partnership staff stressed that the health, safety, and well-being of the Lehigh Athletics community was of paramount importance during their decision.Â
"Due to the decision by the university to temporarily pause all athletics practices and training, as head coaches, we feel strongly that postponing the golf classic is the right decision," said Mary Kate Lynch, Partnership Events Coordinator and Women's Golf Head Coach. "It's important for us, as program leaders and members of the Lehigh Athletics community, to model the behaviors and safety habits that we expect of our athletes. Although we are all disappointed we won't be able to be able to get together with our Lehigh family on the 16th, we look forward to rescheduling this great tradition at a safer and more appropriate time."Â
The Lehigh Athletics Partnership team will continue to evaluate the viability of future dates, including spring dates. As those opportunities are evaluated, future communication will be extended publicly.Â
