Taylor named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following an impressive all-around week, Lehigh men's basketball freshman Evan Taylor has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday. Taylor averaged 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds over two games – at Boston University and vs. American – to continue his recent success and earn Lehigh's first Patriot League weekly award of the season.
Taylor has now scored double-figure points in four of his last six games. The Glen Ellyn, Illinois native began the week with 13 points and six rebounds at Boston University Wednesday, nine of the points coming in the first half to give the Mountain Hawks a chance deep into the second.
Taylor continued with 14 points and a career-high eight rebounds in Saturday's win over American, shooting 4-of-7 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Taylor had a big stretch in the second half. American pulled within two, but Lehigh immediately staged a 12-0 run with eight of the points scored by Taylor to help create separation and essentially put the game away. For the season, Taylor is averaging 8.3 points and 3.8 rebounds.
Senior Jordan Cohen was also recognized with honorable mention on the Patriot League weekly honor roll. Cohen averaged 22 points, seven assists, four rebounds and three steals, including 25 points and a career-high tying eight assists in Sunday's win over American.
Lehigh remains home on Wednesday to host Navy. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online by clicking here.
