BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After starting 0-3 after a tough weekend in Columbus, Ohio a week ago, Lehigh returns home to Leeman Turner Arena at Grace Hall for the annual Crosstown Invitational, hosted jointly with Lafayette. The Mountain Hawks host two matches on Friday against Penn and Maryland Eastern Shore, respectively, before taking on Delaware State and Manhattan Saturday afternoon. All four matches will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network.

Lehigh had a tough going in the first three matches of the year, only managing to win one set against Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks fell 3-0 to Ohio State in the first match of the season, fell 3-0 to VCU on Friday night before falling 3-1 to the Red Raiders.

Through three matches, junior outside hitter Sabrina Lancaster leads the way with 33 kills and 3.30 kills per set, while senior middle-blocker Lauren Bright leads all Mountain Hawks with a .323 hitting percentage. Senior middle-blocker Emily Poole leads her teammates with 10 total blocks through 10 sets played. On the defensive side of the ball, junior libero Allison Garrett leads all Lehigh players with 25 digs, while sophomore setter Sarah Carman has 45 assists including a career-high 39 against Texas Tech.

Lehigh is in search of its first win in the 2019 season and is looking to avoid going 0-4 to start a season for the first time since 2007.

The Crosstown Invitational will mark the first three matches of the season for Penn, who take on Lehigh at 4 p.m. on Friday. The Quakers struggled to get much going in 2018, going 6-19 overall and 3-11 in the Ivy League. Penn was just 1-8 away from the Palestra last season. Raven Sulaimon comes into the year the Quakers' leading returning hitter, with a .218 mark in 2018. Sulaimon also leads returning players with 253 kills. Caroline Furrer is back for Penn as its returning leader in digs with 336. Madison Goldstein had 49 blocks last season for the Quakers. Finally, Kylie Kulinski returns to the lineup as the top option at setter for Penn after tallying 204 assists last year.

All-time, Penn leads the series over Lehigh, 7-2. However, the Mountain Hawks left the Palestra victorious last season with a 3-1 victory on Sept. 9, 2018.

Maryland Eastern Shore comes to Bethlehem this weekend after splitting its first two matchups to open the 2019 season. The Hawks are 2-2 after getting victories over Saint Peter's and NJIT in the St. Francis Brooklyn Tournament a weekend ago. Ivana Blazevic leads the way with a .308 hitting percentage while Alexis Lee has a team-best 38 kills so far. Blazevic also leads the Hawks with 101 assists to go along with her 11 kills, while libero Stella Johnson has 32 digs.

Lehigh leads the all-time series with Maryland Eastern Shore, 2-0, last earning a victory a season ago on Sept. 11, 2018 where the Mountain Hawks got the 3-1 victory.

On Saturday, Lehigh hosts Delaware State for the team's first matchup since the 2014 season. The Hornets enter the weekend with a 1-3 record after a four-match tournament in Montgomery, Ala. last weekend. After falling to Alabama A&M and Jackson State to open up the season, Delaware State scored a 3-1 victory over Texas Southern on Saturday. The Hornets are hitting .192 as a team while Sydney Lewis leads the team with a .348 attack percentage to go along with 22 kills. Anadys Valentin leads the team with 57 kills through four matches with 44 digs and a .284 attack percentage. She was named MEAC Rookie of the Week for her performances. Jelena Dukic leads the team with 132 assists.

Lehigh leads the all-time series with Delaware State, 6-1 with the Mountain Hawks defeating the Hornets at Grace Hall, 3-0 on Sept. 13, 2014.

Finally, the Mountain Hawks will take on Manhattan to conclude the invitational on Saturday. The Jaspers are the only returning out-of-town team from last year's edition of the Crosstown Invitational.

Like Lehigh, Manhattan has opened the 2019 season winless after its first three matches of the season, dropping all three in the RMU Sheraton Invitational in Moon Township to host Robert Morris, McNeese State and Elon last weekend. The Jaspers were swept by the Colonials before losing in four sets to McNeese State and then five sets to Elon. Meagan Miller leads her Jasper teammates with a .278 attack percentage and has 13 kills in 36 attempts. Erin Hoerner has 23 kills and is second on the team with a .234 attack percentage. She also has registered 15 total blocks, while Lizzi Brown has nine. Setter Abby Wilde has 78 assists through the first three matches, while Nashally Eleutiza leads the team with 42 digs.

Lehigh leads the all-time series over Manhattan, 6-1 with the Mountain Hawks last getting the best of the Jaspers, 3-0 on Sept. 1, 2018.
