LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Lehigh men's and women's swimming and diving team concluded their season Saturday night inside Kinney Natatorium at Bucknell. Through four days of competition, the Mountain Hawk women had a memorable showing, finishing in fourth place with 447 points while the men rounded out the field with a fifth place finish and 330 points.

After a night that included a Patriot League champion in the 200 free relay for the women, the day begun with the 1650-yard freestyle and a fifth place finish for Tori Connolly at a time of 17:01.37.

The fun happened in the 100-yard free event where sophomore Ann Foley and defending champion, junior Payton Miles were neck and neck for the title, but they both fell short, finishing in second and third place, respectively. Foley swam to a time of 50.11, while Miles finished third place with a time of 50.18.

Foley and Miles were also a part of a silver medal in the 400-yard freestyle relay, where in the process, Foley received her sixth medal of the week. With a silver in the 100 and a silver in the 400 free relay, Foley finishes with a total of six medals for the week and three golds and four silvers for her career through her first two collegiate seasons.

In the 200-yard butterfly, freshman Annie Norris just narrowly missed out on a podium finish with her 2:01.48, good enough for the new freshman record previously held by Sydney Bornstein (2:02.63, 2015). Sophomore Malia Wolf came in eighth place with a time of 2:05.10.

On the diving board, sophomore Megan Fennell had herself quite the showing in the three-meter dive, finishing with a score of 272.40 for a fourth place finish.

Aside from A-Final swims, freshman Liz Olszewski finished in 10th place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:20.26 and senior Allison Morel finished 12th with a 2:22.48. Freshman Annie Wixted had a 16th place finish with a time of 2:25.00. Senior Kate Bergin swam to a time of 2:05.45 in the 200 butterfly, coming in 14th place.

For the meet, the Lehigh women finish the 2019 Patriot League Championship with two gold medals in the 50-yard freestyle (Ann Foley) and the 200-yard free relay (Foley, Miles, Olivia Giampietro, Courtney Ferreira).

Foley closes the weekend out with 54 total points to her name, the third most in the competition. She finishes the league championships as the highest scoring women's swimmer not from Navy.

On the men's side, they got a fourth place finish from Kevin Fleck in the 1650-yard freestyle, who swam to a time of 15:35.22, while Greg Gardner finished in eighth place with a 15:39.51.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Walker Wilson, Greg Giannella, Joey Rogers and Teddy Smith swam to a sixth place finish with a 3:01.92.

All-in-all, it was a strong meet for the Lehigh men, who came away with a fifth place finish and a ton of positives, including a bronze medal and a new school record in the 500-yard freestyle for Wilson.

The men's fifth place finish is their highest since 2017 and have not finished better than fifth since the 2013 season. The women finish fourth for the first time since 2015 and is their lowest finish since the 2016 season where they finished in fifth place.
