BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The postseason accolades for the Lehigh men's soccer program continued to come in on Thursday morning, as two members of the team were voted All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) team honorees for the 2019 season. Sophomore forward Josh Luchini, who was named an All-Region selection earlier in the week, was named an All-ECAC player for the first time, as well as senior goalkeeper Will Smith, his first honor as well.
Luchini was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-League selection after leading both the team and the league in goals with 11 and second in the league in points with 24. Luchini also had 29 shots-on-goal with a percentage of .483 which was one of the nation's best marks for most of the season. His most notable game of the year came against Boston University on Sept. 28, where he tallied his first career hat trick and was ultimately named National Player of the Week by both the United Soccer Coaches and College Soccer News.
Smith was named an All-ECAC player on the wings of being named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year and a First Team All-League selection. Smith finished out the season with a goals against average of 0.72 and a save percentage of .853 with 87 saves and his save percentage was the best in the Patriot League. Smith recorded 10 shutouts throughout the year including two over Big Ten opponents Northwestern and Rutgers as well as one against Seton Hall of the Big East and one at then-No. 22 Navy. Jointly with the defense, Smith shutout both Bucknell and Lafayette in the Patriot League Tournament en route to Lehigh's third league championship and was subsequently named the Tournament Most Valuable Player. He finishes his career ranked second in program history with 25 career shutouts and third in Patriot League history. During the course of this season, Smith was named Goalkeeper of the Week three times and finishes his career with a Patriot League-record 10 career awards.
