Quinn fires 69 in final round of UConn Invitational at GreatHorse

HAMPDEN, Mass. – Senior Owen Quinn shot three under par 69 to lead the Mountain Hawks on the final day of the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse. Quinn's Tuesday performance vaulted him into the top position among all Lehigh players and led the way for a Mountain Hawk squad that shot 305 in the final round. Lehigh finished 11th in a 14 team field with a final score of 917 (317-295-305).
 
Quinn was three over par through his first three holes Tuesday but turned things on midway through his round. The Massachusetts native made five consecutive birdies starting on 16 and going through the second hole and added another birdie on seven. Quinn tied for 23rd place at 226 (79-78-69).
 
Lehigh's low player through the first two rounds, senior Ryan Kelly, carded a final round 79 to finish in a tie for 32nd place at 229 (78-72-79).
 
Behind the two seniors were four freshmen, led by David Hurly, who tied for 38th place at 230 (80-72-78). Hurly made two birdies in his final round.
 
Sam Barton tied for 59th place at 235 (80-73-82), as he made one birdie and was just two over par over his final nine holes. Alex Aurora shot his best round of the tournament, a 79 to finish in 79th place at 246 (87-80-79).
 
Joey Dotta competed as an individual and finished second to Quinn with three birdies in his final round as he carded an 83 and finished in a tie for 75th at 241 (78-80-83).
 
Columbia claimed the team and individual titles. The Lions finished at 871 (292-292-287), beating Lafayette by 14 strokes. Alvin Kwak was the individual medalist at two under par 214, one stroke better than teammate Nathan Han, and 18 and 36-hole leader Ryan Tomaso of Hartford.
 
The Mountain Hawks will face Lafayette in match play at the annual Presidents' Cup, Oct. 15 at Hamilton Farms in Gladstone, N.J. Lehigh will then close out its fall season by hosting the Lehigh Invitational, Oct. 18-19 on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club.
