BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh field hockey incoming freshman goalkeeper Maddie Kahn has been named to the U.S. Under-19 Women's National Team, as announced on Monday. The Voorhees, N.J. native was ranked top 50 nationally in the Class of 2019, while also taking part in the Junior Olympics for three years. Kahn is set to enter Lehigh in the fall of 2019.
Â
"This is a huge accomplishment for any athlete to be chosen to represent our country on the national stage," said Lehigh head coach Caitlin Dallmeyer. "In watching Maddie develop over these last few years, I have seen her determination to be the 'best' and this selection solidifies those efforts. I could not be more excited to have that level of determination join our program."
Â
The U-19 squad will take part in three additional training camps over the next several weeks to prepare for their respective Germany tours. From April 14-22, the U-19 USWNT will travel to Dusseldorf to take on Germany's U-18 Team and Belgium's U-18 Team. Additionally, for the first time, the U-19 USWNT will take part in the Young Women's National Championships from June 14-18, 2019.
Â
A standout at Ocean City High School and with the WC Eagles, Kahn earned All-Conference honors and All-South Jersey recognition in her career. She also took part in Futures for three years, along with the Stars and Stripes Game. Kahn was a standout lacrosse student-athlete as well.
