BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following an impressive, and historic, sophomore season, sophomore Lenke Havas of the Lehigh field hockey team has been named a second team All-Mideast Region honoree, as announced by the NFHCA on Monday. Havas is Lehigh's first All-Region member since 2011 and only the fourth different All-Region honoree in program history, joining Christy Smith (2006 and 2007), Kim Eng (2009) and Sierra Segear (2011).

"We are so proud of Lenke and what she has brought to this program," said Lehigh head coach Caitlin Dallmeyer. "Although her talent and skill on the field is obvious to anyone who has seen her play, which is why she is receiving this award, what we value most is the tremendous leadership she brings, on and off the field. She has helped to elevate the level on the field and challenged her teammates to do the same. She is an ideal role model for all current and future LUFHers and we are so happy to see her make history."

An All-Patriot League honoree following each of her first two seasons, Havas was named to the second team in 2017 and first team in 2018. A native of Maastricht, The Netherlands, Havas led Mountain Hawks in goals (6), assists (9) and points (21) as a sophomore. The nine assists marked a single-season school record. Havas finished the season tied fourth in the Patriot League in points (21), tied for ninth in goals and second in assists. She was also tied for second with three defensive saves. Havas finished as the only player in the Patriot League in the top five in both points and defensive stops. She tallied a point in her final five games of season, with at least one point in 12-of-18 games. Havas was also named to the Academic All-Patriot League team for her tremendous success as an all-around student-athletes.

Havas helped lead a Mountain Hawks' team that continued to show strong signs of progress in 2018. She played an integral role in Lehigh's tremendous play on penalty corners, helping the Mountain Hawks turn 91 corner opportunities into 17 goals off corners. The 18.7 success percentage almost doubled the previous year's total. The Mountain Hawks defeated Ball State for the first time since 1984, picked up a Patriot League win over Colgate and defeated Towson in the season finale. Lehigh also took archrival Lafayette to overtime for a second straight season and scored multiple goals against the Leopards for the first time since 2007 (13 games ago). Havas had the game-tying goal in the second half, off a corner.

The award is more than simply an individual honor for Havas, but rather a strong sign of progress for Lehigh field hockey and the strong culture the program is developing.

"I felt like I got more out of practice this year because the overall level of the team was higher and with higher work rate, practice was more effective," said Havas.

"Lenke is not only an outstanding with her field presence and success, but she also brings a new level of hard work, dedication and self-discipline to the program," said sophomore Anna Mostoller.
