Kauffman named to Google Cloud Academic All-District Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – As the Lehigh football team prepares to close out its season Saturday at Lafayette in the 154th meeting of college football's most-played rivalry, senior defensive lineman Harrison Kauffman was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 Team, selected by CoSIDA on Thursday.
Kauffman earns Academic All-District honors for the second straight season, as he advances to the ballot for Academic All-America recognition.
The Academic All-District teams are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) whose schools are in the region. District 2 consists of schools from Washington, D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and be a starter or key reserve.
A two-year starter and three-year contributor who also serves as one of Lehigh's team captains, Kauffman holds a 3.45 cumulative GPA as a finance major. Last season, the Kalispell, Mont., product was an Academic All-District selection and an Academic All-Patriot League honoree. Earlier this season, Kauffman was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, given to college football's top Scholar-Athlete. He is also a three-year member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
On the field, Kauffman has started all 10 games this season on the defensive line, totaling 32 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. In 36 career appearances for the Brown and White, Kauffman has 70 tackles and four sacks.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that Lehigh had at least one student-athlete earn Academic All-District recognition. Last year Kauffman and defensive lineman Jimmy Mitchell both earned the honor.
Kauffman and the Mountain Hawks will close out their season Saturday at Lafayette, with game time set for 12:30 p.m. from Fisher Stadium in Easton. Tickets are still available through both Lehigh and Lafayette.
