Lehigh prepares for Lafayette at home Friday, travels to Bucknell Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Mountain Hawks are ready to get back to work after a 14-2 start to the season, a 3-1 start in the Patriot League. The pressure is on as rival Lafayette visits Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Lehigh travels to Bucknell on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Lehigh has been ready for this matchup against the Leopards (5-11, 0-4) for quite a while, now having played in four straight five-set matches dating back to the Patriot League opener against Loyola on Sept. 21. The Mountain Hawks are most recently coming off of a five-set victory at Holy Cross last Saturday and a five-set win over Army West Point last Friday.
The Mountain Hawks are currently playing as one of the top four teams in the Patriot League with a 3-1 record, one game behind American for first place in the league.
Lehigh is led in hitting percentage by junior middle-blocker Emily Poole, who also leads the Patriot League with a .374 mark. Junior Lauren Bright ranks fourth in the league with a mark of .332. Sophomore outside hitter Sabrina Lancaster is fifth in the Patriot League with 3.40 kills per set, while senior setter Megan Polak is fourth in assists per game with 7.79. The Mountain Hawks also have the services of Patriot League Rookie of the Week Alina Lam at setter, where she is ranked sixth in the league in aces per game with 0.28.
The Mountain Hawks are ranked second as a team in the Patriot League in hitting with a .215 percentage, while they allow a league-low .145 to opponents. Lehigh is tops in blocks with 163.5 and blocks per set at 2.60.
Lafayette is led in hitting by Julia Howard with a .229 percentage. Howard also leads with 348 assists, averaging 6.82 hits per set, and service aces with 14. Grace Tulevech leads the Leopards in kills with 188 and kills per set at 3.42. Audrey Mangum leads Lafayette with 2.64 digs per set, while Madi Wahrmund is the team's leading blocker with 0.66 blocks per sets. The Leopards are hitting .153 as a team this season, allowing opponents to a .262 mark.
The Mountain Hawks lead the all-time rivalry series 58-30, winning 16 of the last 17 matches against the Leopards dating back to 2009. Lehigh swept Lafayette on Oct. 28, 2017.
The Bucknell Bison are currently riding an eight-match losing streak dating back to Sept. 8 vs. Hartford. The Bison are surely hungry for their first win since beating Niagara 3-0 on the same day.
Bucknell is led by Alexa Bonanno and Brooke Stark with identical .333 hitting percentages. Bonanno is also the team leader in assists with 335, assists per set at 6.98, and service aces with 12 through 15 appearances. Sophie Bullard leads the team in kills with 137 and kills per set with 2.63. Defensively, Stark is the Bison's leader in digs per set with 3.67, while Mimi Richards is the team's leading blocker with 62.
The Bison are hitting .178 as a team this season, while allowing their opponents to a .202 hitting percentage.
