
Volleyball Tests Win Streak Against Away and Home League Matches this Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh will put its eight-match win streak and unblemished Patriot League record on the line this weekend with a trip to four-time defending Patriot League champion American on Friday night at 7 p.m. and then return home to take on Loyola on Saturday at 5 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live for free on the Patriot League Network.
Lehigh (13-5) is tied with Navy for the top spot in the Patriot League standings as both teams own 4-0 records in league play. American (11-7) sits in second place with a league record of 3-1 and Loyola (8-9) is in a three-way tie for third with a league record of 2-2. The Eagles have league wins over Loyola, Holy Cross and Army, with a 3-1 loss to Navy. The Greyhounds have wins over Army and Colgate, with losses to American and Navy in league play.
The trip to American will be Lehigh's first road test in league play and will the first match away from home since mid-September. During the last eight matches, Ana Spangenberg leads the team with 3.92 kills per set with a .320 attack percentage. Lauren Bright has averaged 1.33 blocks per set with an average of 2.33 kills per set on a .409 attack percentage. Emily Develle has averaged a team-best 4.42 digs per set during Lehigh's run.
The Eagles enter Friday's match as winners of their last three and have also won their last three matches at home. AU is 5-3 on its home floor this season, including a league win over Loyola.
AU's Aleksandra Kazala leads the league with 2.88 kills and an average of 4.72 kills per set. Vela McBride paces American with a .361 attack percentage which is second-best in the league.
Loyola will cap off an eight-match road trip when the Greyhounds visit Bethlehem on Saturday. The Greyhounds are 5-8 in matches away from home this season, but have wins at Army and at Colgate in their last two matches leading up to Saturday.
Ann Ernst leads Loyola and ranks fourth in the league with 3.43 kills per set and is second overall with 223 kills. The Greyhounds do not have a player ranked in the top 10 in any other offensive or defensive category other than Elena Scarano who is 10th in the league with 3.29 digs per set.
American leads the all-time series with a record of 32-6, but Lehigh posted a 3-0 win in most recent meeting. The Mountain Hawks lead Loyola, 14-3, in the series and have won every meeting dating back to 2003.
