ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Battling rain and other adverse weather conditions, the Lehigh men's golf team wrapped up its 2015-16 season with a sixth place finish at the eight-team Patriot League Championship, which concluded Sunday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks shot 311 on Sunday to finish with a final score of 907 (300-296-311).

Freshmen accounted for Lehigh's four best rounds on Sunday, led by Johnny Hsu, who was Lehigh's low finisher, taking 13th place at 223 (77-70-76). Lee Hammerschmidt bounced back from two rounds in the 80s on Saturday to shoot 77 on Sunday, finishing at 244 (82-85-77), good for 45th place.

Lehigh's third best round on Sunday was turned in by freshman Max Redetzke, who shot 78 and tied for 35th place at 237 (73-86-78). The fourth Lehigh freshman, Eamon Marone, finished in 31st place at 233 (80-73-80).

Sophomore Billy Johns was Lehigh's second-highest finisher, but struggled to an 83 on Sunday. Johns tied for 25th place at 231 (72-76-83).

Senior David Olexson tied Redetzke for 35th place at 237 (78-77-82).

A dominant performance from Army West Point gave the Black Knights the team title. As a team Army finished at two under par 850 (284-284-282). The Black Knights beat runner-up Navy by 22 strokes, while Loyola finished in third place, 26 strokes behind Army West Point.

Lehigh finished 12 strokes behind fourth place Bucknell and 10 behind fifth place Lafayette.

Army West Point's Dean Sakata cruised to the individual title at 11 under par 202 (66-69-67). Lafayette's Art Griffin and Bucknell's JP Raftery tied for second with Raftery earning Rookie of the Year honors.

The Mountain Hawks lose just Olexson to graduation and will return five of their six Patriot League Championship entries, including their top three finishers in 2016-17.
