
Lehigh looks to continue recent strong play at Lafayette Invitational beginning Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After an impressive second place finish in the Wildcat Invitational earlier this week, the Lehigh men's golf team will look to continue its strong play this weekend at Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Lafayette at Silver Creek Country Club. The 36-hole tournament features with single rounds of 18 holes Sunday and Monday.
The Mountain Hawks shot 14 over par 296 on the final day at the Wildcat Invitational to move into second place with a final score of 599 (303-296). It marked the third straight event where Lehigh finished as the runner-up.
Freshman Johnny Hsu was Lehigh's top finisher, tying for 11th place at six over par 148 after back-to-back rounds of 74. Hsu birdied two of his final four holes to finish with the second round 74 on Tuesday. Fellow classmate Eamon Marone shot even par 71 on Tuesday to move into a tie for 25th place at 151 (80-71).
This weekend's tournament features 18 teams, including Patriot League foes Bucknell, Colgate, and Lafayette as well as Binghamton, Canisius, Central Connecticut State, Fordham, Hofstra, Iona, La Salle, UMass-Lowell, Manhattan, Monmouth, Niagara, St. Francis Brooklyn, St. Peter's and Villanova.
The course at Silver Creek Country Club covers 6,655 yards and plays to a par of 72.
Lehigh finished second in a field of 14 teams last spring. Current sophomore Billy Johns and junior Brendan Worthy both finished in the top 40. The Mountain Hawks won this tournament in their Patriot League Championship season of 2013.
Sunday's opening round will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a shotgun start. Monday's final round will begin at 9 a.m. with split starting tee times.
