PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Sophomore Billy Johns tied for individual lead at three over par 147 but lost on the second hole of a three-way playoff as the Mountain Hawks wrapped-up action at the spring-opening Patriot Spring Intercollegiate, which concluded Tuesday at the PGA National Estates Course.

As a team, Lehigh finished four strokes behind Navy for first place. The Mountain Hawks led the four-team field with 309 on Tuesday, matching its Monday score for an overall 618, but Navy carded rounds of 302 and 312 to win with a score of 614.

Finishing behind Navy and Lehigh were Bucknell at 626 and UMass-Lowell at 665.

Johns shot one over par 73 on Tuesday, including even par 36 on the back nine. He birdied the 18th hole to move into the tie for first with Navy's Connor Tallman and Matt Starobin. In the playoff, Starobin bogeyed the first playoff hole and was eliminated. On the second playoff hole, Johns missed a par putt while Tallman rolled in a three-footer for the win.

Lehigh's next highest finisher was freshman Johnny Hsu who took sixth place at 153 (78-75). While the back nine gave Lehigh trouble on Monday, Hsu navigated the final nine holes at one under par on Tuesday.

Senior Dave Olexson bounced back after a rough second nine on Monday to shoot 77 on Tuesday and finish in a tie for 15th place at 157.

The Mountain Hawks three remaining players were freshmen. Max Redetzke followed his opening round 77 with an 84 and finished in 22nd place at 161, while Lee Hammerschmidt tied for 36th place at 176 (86-90). Freshman Tim Wolak competed as an individual and tied for 33rd place at 173 (86-87).

Next up for Lehigh will be the Wildcat Intercollegiate, hosted by Villanova, March 28-29 in Malvern, Pa.
