
Bright Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa – Lehigh volleyball freshman Lauren Bright has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Bright helped lead the Mountain Hawks to a 2-1 record last week while leading the team in blocks and ranking among the team leaders in kills.
Bright totaled a team-leading 15 total blocks for the week with a 1.25 block-per-set average. The freshman finished second on the team for the week with 33 total kills good for a 2.75 kill-per-set average and a .422 hitting percentage.
In the win against George Washington, Bright recorded a season-high 12 kills with a .455 hitting percentage. She also posted a season-high four solo blocks with a total of five to lead the team on the night.
In the win over Holy Cross, Bright tied for the team lead with 11 kills while hitting an impressive .476 for the night. She posted five total blocks to lead all players in the match.
The freshman closed out the week with a four-set match against Army West Point in which she recorded 10 kills with a .333 hitting percentage. Bright recorded a season-high six total blocks to lead all players on the day.
Bright is the second Mountain Hawk to earn the honor of PL Rookie of the Week, joining Jessica Donaldson who earned the award on September 27.
Lehigh returns to action on Tuesday night with a trip to rival Lafayette for a 7 p.m. match. LU will return home for two weekend matches, starting with Loyola on Friday at 7 p.m. and wrapping up with Navy on Saturday at 4 p.m.
