Lehigh Travels to Lafayette for Tuesday Night Match

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off a 2-1 homestand last week, the Lehigh volleyball team will hit the road, but remain close to home with a trip to rival Lafayette on Tuesday night for a Patriot League match. Action is set to get underway at 7 p.m. at the Kirby Sports Center.

Live stream will be available on the Patriot League Network and live stats will be provided by Lafayette.

In the first meeting this season, Lehigh defeated Lafayette 3-0 at home in the conference opener for both teams. LU earned set victories of 25-15, 25-17, 25-20 and hit .284 as a team while holding the Leopards to a .171 hitting percentage. Since the meeting on September 21, Lehigh is 4-3 against Patriot League opponents and 5-3 overall, while Lafayette is 1-6 with all matches against PL opponents.

The Mountain Hawks are 5-3 in the Patriot League with an overall record of 10-12 and are tied with Navy for fourth place in the PL standings. LU split its conference slate last week with a 3-0 win over Holy Cross and a 3-1 loss to Army West Point. The Mountain Hawks also picked up a win over George Washington last Tuesday in a nonconference match by a score of 3-2.

Freshman Lauren Bright had an outstanding performance for Lehigh last week. The freshman led the team with 15 total blocks while ranking second on the team with 33 total kills. Fellow freshman Julia Pressly also excelled as she led the team with 36 total kills for the week.

Lafayette is 1-7 in the Patriot League with an overall record of 3-15 and is tied with Loyola for last place in the conference. The Leopards suffered two 3-0 losses last week to Patriot League opponents Navy and Colgate. Lafayette has been swept in its last three matches and eight times overall this season, including the season's first meeting with Lehigh.

Jet Manzi and Elizabeth Walsh led Lafayette with 12 kills each last week. Both had four kills against Navy and eight against Colgate. Walsh posted a hitting percentage of .303 while Manzi hit .281 for the week.

Lehigh is 2-6 in true road matches this season, including a 2-2 record against Patriot League opponents. Lafayette is 2-7 at home, including a record of 0-2 against PL teams. Lehigh has won the last won the last seven meetings at the Kirby Sports Center. Lafayette last defeated Lehigh on its home court on October 31, 2008.

Lehigh is 55-30 against Lafayette in the all-time series and is 9-1 in the previous five seasons.
