Mountain Hawks to continue fall slate at Tuxedo Autumn Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's golf team will travel Tuxedo Park, N.Y. this weekend to compete in the Tuxedo Autumn Invitational, hosted by Columbia. The 11-team event will take place at The Tuxedo Club with 36 holes being played on Friday before the invitational concludes with the final 18 on Saturday.
The Mountain Hawks are coming off a seventh place finish at the Rutgers Invitational September 11-12. Sophomore Billy Johns anchored Lehigh, tying for 22nd place at six over par 219. Freshmen Johnny Hsu and Eamon Marone both finished 31st at 222. Also competing for the Mountain Hawks were freshmen Max Redetzke and Lee Hammerschmidt. Senior Dave Olexson competed as an individual.
The 11-team field features two Patriot League rivals in Lafayette and Bucknell along with Monmouth, Manhattan, St. Peters, CCSU, Hofstra, Drexel, St. Thomas Aquinas, and host Columbia.
Last year, Lehigh finished third out of nine teams in the Tuxedo Autumn Invitational. Harley Abrams '15 led Lehigh finishing third at four over par 221 (74-72-75).
Friday's round will commence with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. while Saturday's tee times are slated for 9 a.m. Lehigh will play with Bucknell and Columbia on Friday's opening day of play. The Mountain Hawks' scoring team will consist of Johns, Hsu, Olexson, Hammerschmidt and junior Brendan Worthy. Marone will compete as an individual, playing with JD Moore of St. Peter's and Michael Frizalone of St. Thomas Aquinas.
Following this weekend, The Mountain Hawks will then begin preparations for their matchup with archrival Lafayette on Oct.13, before closing out their fall campaign by hosting the Lehigh Invitational Oct. 16-17 at Saucon Valley CC.
