Parker earns spot on NWCA True Freshman All-Academic Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh sophomore Scott Parker has been named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association's True Freshman All-Academic Team for his performance in the 2014-15 season, it was announced Wednesday/
 
Each year the NWCA recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the mat and in the classroom. In May, four Mountain Hawks: Mason Beckman, Mitch Minotti, Santiago Martinez and Doug Vollaro were named to the NWCA All-Academic Team.
 
Parker was one of five wrestlers named to the True Freshman All-Academic Team. In his debut season, Parker went 19-11 as Lehigh's starter at 125, including a 13-5 dual meet mark. Parker finished fourth at the EIWA Championships and earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Championships, going 1-2 in his first trip to Nationals.
 
Off the mat, the Sellersville, Pa. native earned a 3.72 grade point average in his first year. Parker is enrolled in Lehigh's College of Business and Economics but has yet to declare a major.
 
Joining Parker on the NWCA True Freshman All-Academic Team were All-Americans Kyle Snyder from Ohio State, Kevin Jack of North Carolina State, NCAA qualifier Garrett Sutton of Michigan and a second N.C. State wrestler, Bryce Meredith.
