Lehigh beats Lafayette by 16 strokes in final tune-up before Patriot League Championship

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In its final tune-up before this weekend's Patriot League Championship the Lehigh men's golf team defeated rival Lafayette 300-316 in stroke play on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. Senior Zach Allinson led the way with a low score of 73 in the play seven, score four format as the Mountain Hawks defeated their arch rivals by 16 strokes.
 
Lehigh actually had the four lowest scores overall. Junior Harley Abrams finished two strokes behind Allinson with a 75 while freshman Billy Johns and senior Jack Russell both carded rounds of 76.
 
Also competing for the Mountain Hawks were senior Carlos Kim and sophomore Brendan Worthy, who both shot 78, and junior Dave Olexson, who carded a 79.
 
Lafayette was led by Jared Mactas, who shot 78, while Bob Dyer and Travis Ricca also broke 80.
 
Lehigh defeated Lafayette for the second time this spring. Two weeks ago, the Mountain Hawks defeated the Leopards 4-2 in singles match play in the semifinals of the Navy Spring Invitational. Lafayette claimed the President's Cup by a single point 8.5-7.5 last fall in New Jersey.
 
The Mountain Hawks will now head to Hamilton, N.Y. for the Patriot League Championship beginning Saturday at the Seven Oaks Golf Course.
