BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After another weekend off from competition, No. 11 Lehigh returns to the mats to kick off the stretch run with a Sunday doubleheader against EIWA rivals Harvard and Brown. The Mountain Hawks have competed just twice since mid-January, defeating Franklin & Marshall 40-6 on January 24 before falling 21-9 to Cornell the following day. Junior Mason Beckman and sophomore Doug Vollaro were the only two Mountain Hawks to go 2-0 in the last weekend of competition. Five Mountain Hawks are ranked by InterMat, while eight appear in the first NCAA Coaches' Panel rankings. Harvard and Brown will both face Penn and Princeton on Saturday before visiting Bethlehem on Sunday.

The NCAA released the first of four Coaches' Panel rankings for the 2014-15 season back on January 22. The final rankings will be one of the tools used as part of the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. A panel of coaches ranked the top 33 in each weight class with the Mountain Hawks well represented. Lehigh has wrestlers ranked in the top 33 in eight of ten weight classes, led by Nathaniel Brown, who is ranked fifth at 184. Beckman is tied for tenth at 133. The only two weight classes where Lehigh wresters are not ranked are 149 and 174.

Lehigh has five wrestlers ranked in the latest polls by InterMat, with Brown leading the way at No. 3 at 184. Beckman and sophomores Elliot Riddick and Mitch Minotti are ranked in the top 15 in their respective weight classes, while sophomore Randy Cruz is ranked 20th at 141. Four Mountain Hawks are ranked by the Open Mat, WIN Magazine and Flowrestling.

Harvard enters a busy weekend of action with a 1-4 dual meet record. The Crimson will visit Princeton and Penn on Saturday before squaring off with Lehigh on Sunday. Like Lehigh, Harvard was off from competition last weekend. The Crimson's lone dual win came against VMI on January 11, while Harvard also had dual losses to Maryland, American, Cornell and Bucknell. Harvard competed exclusively in tournaments in the first half of the season, including the Keystone Classic and the Las Vegas Invitational. The Crimson have three wrestlers ranked in the first NCAA Coaches' Panel rankings, led by James Fox (No. 10 at 197) and returning EIWA champion Todd Preston  (No. 16 at 141). Lehigh Valley native Jay Weiss is in his 22nd season as the Crimson's head coach.

Brown will wrestle a similar slate to Lehigh this weekend with duals at Penn and Princeton on Saturday. The Bears enter the weekend at 3-5 and are coming off a 21-15 home win over Binghamton last Saturday. Brown has also defeated Menlo College and Sacred Heart. Like Harvard, Brown spent most of the first semester competing in tournaments. The Bears were at the Navy Classic, the Las Vegas Invitational and the Midlands. Brown has three wrestlers ranked in the first Coaches' Panel rankings, led by Justin Staudenmayer at 157 and returning All-American Ophir Bernstein at 184. Todd Beckerman is in second season as Brown's head coach. He came to Brown from Maryland where he coached for eight seasons, including three as an assistant to Pat Santoro.

Lehigh has dominated the all-time series against both teams it will face today. The Mountain Hawks are a combined 37-6 all-time versus Harvard and Brown. Lehigh has won its last 17 duals against Brown and 15 of the last 16 meetings against Harvard.

Sunday's doubleheader begins at noon with Lehigh taking on Harvard, with the Lehigh-Brown dual to follow at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at LehighTickets.com, by calling 610-7LU-GAME during normal business hours, or at Grace Hall on match day.

Lehigh will host one of eight regional rounds of the NWCA National Duals on Saturday February 14 when the Mountain Hawks welcome George Mason to Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall for a 7 p.m. match. The winner of the Lehigh-George Mason match will move on to Iowa City, Iowa for the National Duals quarterfinals, semifinals and finals February 21-22.
