BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Coming off a strong second-half effort at Syracuse Friday, the Lehigh men's basketball team plays its second road game in four days when the Mountain Hawks travel to Canisius on Monday. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3. Monday marks the home opener for the Golden Griffins, one season after they traveled to Lehigh for the Mountain Hawks' home opener in 2014-15.

Lehigh fell behind 32-12 at the half Friday night, but rebounded in a big way in the second. The Mountain Hawks outscored the Orange 35-25 over the final 20 minutes, which included an 18-4 run to start the second half. Lehigh quickly pulled within six at 36-30 with 12:35 still remaining, but Syracuse reopened a double-digit lead and the Mountain Hawks couldn't pull any closer than eight the rest of the way.

Junior Tim Kempton led the Mountain Hawks with his 21st career double-double, tallying 16 points and 12 rebounds. Twelve points and eight boards came in the second half. Kempton has now posted a double-double in each of his last four games against power conference foes (Villanova, DePaul, Arizona State and Syracuse). Classmate Austin Price recorded double-figure points, finishing with 12 points and a career-high tying five steals. Sophomore Kahron Ross also had three steals to tie a career high as the Mountain Hawks posted 11 steals, their first time in double figures since last Dec. 31 against Colgate. Price's five steals were the most by any Mountain Hawk since he had five at Arizona State last Dec. 20.

Lehigh outscored Syracuse in the paint, 26-10, due in large part to the play of Kempton. The Mountain Hawks also held a 21-7 edge in points off turnovers and 13-11 advantage in fast break points. After shooting just 2-of-23 in the first half, the Mountain Hawks bounced back to shoot 13-of-29 in the second.

Monday's game vs. Canisius continues a strong November schedule for the Mountain Hawks. The Golden Griffins are coming off an 18-win season which included two wins in the national College Insider Tournament. While Lehigh's game Friday was very defensive, Canisius' game saw 181 combined points in a 96-85 Hofstra victory.

Canisius opened its season on Friday with a high-scoring 96-85 defeat at Hofstra. Malcolm McMillan exploded for 33 points on 13-of-20 shooting. The former Central Connecticut State player earned his undergraduate degree, averaging 10.8 points as a junior in 2013-14 before playing in just two games last season. Kassius Robertson and Jamal Reynolds each added 13 points on Friday. Last season, Canisius finished the season 18-15, playing in the College Insider Tournament which included victories against Dartmouth and Bowling Green.

Canisius has won both all-time meetings, first winning in December of 1990 by a 78-71 final. The teams met in the Mountain Hawks' home opener last season, which the Golden Griffins won 63-51. Brandon Alson scored 11 points in his second-career game while Kempton led Lehigh with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Lehigh heads to the friendly confines of Stabler Arena on Thursday to host Yale in its home opener. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are available and can be purchased at LehighTickets.com or by calling 610-7LU-GAME during normal business hours.
