Patriot League Release

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - For the second time in as many weeks, Lehigh freshman Teresa Carotenuto has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday. Carotenuto enjoyed a breakout performance on Sunday, scoring all four of Lehigh's goals in a 4-0 win over Siena.

The Macungie, Pa. native gave the Mountain Hawks a 1-0 lead against the Saints just 8:07 into the game. She would go on to score two goals in each half to lead Lehigh to the dominant victory.

Carotenuto's four-goal game fell just one goal shy of tying the Patriot League record for most goals in a game, owned by Lafayette's Suzi Farrell (1990). The hat trick was Lehigh's first since 2012 while her four goals were most by a Patriot League player since 2010. The four goals are the second most by any player in the nation this season and the eight points are tied for the second most. Carotenuto's seven goals on the season are tied for first in the Patriot League while her 14 points place her eighth.

Junior goalkeeper Julia Ward was also recognized with honorable mention laurels on Monday. Ward stopped six of eight shots on Saturday vs. Lafayette while making a pair of saves on Sunday against Siena for her third-career shutout.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action when they host #12 Liberty on Friday. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m. and will be Lehigh's Play4theCure Game in support of cancer awareness.
