BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a challenging week against a pair of tough opponents, the Lehigh women's soccer team returns home on Wednesday when the Mountain Hawks host Lafayette at 7 p.m. Lehigh currently stands in a tie for seventh place in the Patriot League standings, but just two points behind sixth place and three points out of fifth. The Mountain Hawks have just two regular season games remaining after the Lafayette matchup.

Lehigh is coming off a 3-0 defeat at first-place Boston University Saturday. The Mountain Hawks fell behind early and couldn't recover. Despite enjoying sustained pressure midway through the second half, Lehigh couldn't find the back of the net as the Terriers remained undefeated in league play.

Senior goalkeeper Ani Nahapetian finished the afternoon with six saves while sophomore Lexi Chang led the Mountain Hawks with three shots, including two on goal. Prior to last week's games against two of the Northeast's best teams (Princeton and Boston University), Lehigh had won two straight games, earning its first-ever win at Penn before topping Loyola 2-1 in the Mountain Hawks' last home game on Oct. 10.

Following a stellar nonleague season, Lafayette has struggled in Patriot League play, but enters Wednesday just one point behind the three-way tie for seventh place. The Leopards are 6-1-0 against nonleague opponents, but just 1-4-1 in the league. Lafayette picked up its first league victory on Saturday, a 1-0 win at Holy Cross. Kaelin King leads the Leopards in scoring with 18 points behind seven goals and four assists. Melissa Lynskey is second with 10 points behind five goals while Katie Brannigan has eight points via two goals and four assists. Danielle Sedillo has started 10 games in goal, owning a 1.65 goals against average and .594 save percentage while Kelly O'Brien has gotten into eight games (three starts) with a 0.86 GAA and .844 save percentage.

After a 2-1 road win at Lafayette last year behind a pair of Grace Correll goals, the Mountain Hawks now lead the all-time series, 15-7-2. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Mountain Hawks, which came right after a nine-game Lehigh winning streak in the series. The Mountain Hawks won the first-ever meeting between the archrivals, 2-1 on Oct. 19, 1991.

Following Wednesday's game, the Mountain Hawks will host Bucknell on Saturday in their final regular season home game. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. and before the game, Lehigh's seven seniors will be recognized on Senior Night.
