BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Riding a three-game winning streak, the Lehigh field hockey team will look to continue its recent success when it hosts Colgate on Saturday (12 p.m.) before traveling to Fairfield on Sunday (2 p.m.). Saturday's game features the Raiders, who are 2-0 in league play, against the 1-1 Mountain Hawks. With a win, Lehigh would be tied for second in the Patriot League standings at the end of the day.

Lehigh is coming off nonleague wins against Georgetown and Sacred Heart on consecutive Sundays with a league victory against Holy Cross sandwiched in between. The Mountain Hawks' offense has come alive, scoring 11 goals over the last three games including four-goal efforts against the Hoyas and Pioneers. After being held scoreless in the first half vs. Holy Cross, Lehigh scored seven goals over the final three halves.

Sophomore Gabby Tofig was the spark offensively, scoring three goals last weekend, including the eventual game-winning goals on both Saturday and Sunday. She was rewarded with Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors. Tofig now owns a team and league-leading seven goals, including four in her last three games.

Senior Steph Fratoni was also named the league's Defensive Player of the Year after recording a goal and assist last weekend while leading a defense that allowed just three goals over two games. Sophomore Julia Ward continued her strong play in goal, making four saves on Saturday and nine on Sunday; she now owns a 3.29 goals against average and .714 save percentage for the season.

Colgate is 3-6 overall, but the Raiders are 2-0 in league play and coming off a big victory against Lafayette last weekend. That win came after a 3-0 victory over Holy Cross. Saturday marks Colgate's first road game in league play. Eliana Brown has been a workhorse offensively, posting five goals and two assists while Whitney Jones has been a big contributor as well with four goals and two assists.

The Raiders lead the all-time series, 18-13-1 including two straight victories. Lehigh's last win over Colgate came at home in 2011 by a 2-1 final. The teams alternated wins from 2004-12 in a highly-competitive series.

Meanwhile, Sunday's opponent Fairfield has experienced an up-and-down season with a 4-7 record, but the Stags are strong on their turf with a 3-1 home mark. Both Lehigh and Fairfield have beaten Sacred Heart and lost to both Penn and Monmouth this season. Freshman sensation and Blue Bell, Pa. native Ann Burgoyne has burst onto the scene with eight goals in the Stags' first 11 contests. Felicitas Heinen has also enjoyed a solid start, distributing the ball and tallying five goals and five assists. Fairfield has consistently played two goalkeepers throughout this year. Caitlin Bennett owns a 2.48 GAA and .633 save percentage in 398:31 while Emma Ball has a 3.00 GAA and .755 save percentage in 390:17.

The all-time series is tied at 9-9. The Stags won last year's meeting, 2-1, and have won four in a row. Lehigh's last win came on Oct. 14, 2009 at home by a 3-2 final.

After this weekend, the Mountain Hawks will travel north to take on Patriot League opponent Boston University on Saturday then Brown on Sunday.
