Lehigh late comeback not enough against Towson

The Mountain Hawks winning streak has unfortuneately ended at two games. Last night Lehigh faced a tough Towson University squad who came out firing early and often. Towson's Nicholas Vonakis scored two early goals at :30 and 3:53 of the first period. Lehigh was able to find the net a little over midway through the first off a goal that the referees credited to Christopher Ramondelli, assisted by Ryan Lexa and Scott Mogerley. The Mountain Hawks went into the first intermission with a 3-1 deficit. Towson's Nicholas Vonakis scored the only goal of the second period, completing his hat trick. Towson came out firing in the third period, scoring a goal at the 2:45 mark off the stick of Brett Gleiche, making the score 5-1. There was some fight left in Lehigh's tank as was shown when Joseph Ramondelli was able to sneak one past Towson's Tyler Stewardson at the 13:25 mark. The Mountain Hawks were able to put one more in the net at the 16:30 mark when Kevin McGee fired one past Stewardson. This was the final goal of the game and Towson left Bethlehem with a 5-3 victory. Lehigh returns to action next Friday October 17th, when Rider University visits Steel Ice Center for an 8pm contest. Remember you can purchase tickets for this years Lehigh vs Lafayette rivalry hockey game at all Mountain Hawks home games. This years game is being held at the brand new PPL Center in downtown Allentown.
