Steelhawks Head to Richmond in First PIFL Playoff

When It Counts, Lehigh Valley Faces Familiar Foe
Bethlehem, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (7-5) will journey to Richmond to take on the Raiders (7-5) in the first round of the PIFL playoffs. The two teams have faced off twice this season already, both leaving the Steelhawks on the wrong side of the scoreboard. The Steelhawks will need a different result in this, the game that counts, to continue their quest for the PIFL championship.
Lehigh Valley enters the game as the third seed in the playoffs but leads the league in many offensive categories. That powerful offense is led by QB Adam Bednarik (2,837 yards, 70% completion percentage, 53 TD, 99 yards rushing, 7 rushing TD) who has lethal targets in all his receivers – Tom Gilson and Torieal Gibson (both top 10 receivers in the league). The offense will be up against a Richmond defense led by DB Davon Morgan (4th in the league in tackles made) and DL Brandon Sutton (5th in the league in sacks).
Richmond possesses a dangerous passing offense themselves, led by QB Warren Smith (league's 2nd ranked quarterback). It was the Raiders' rush offense that hurt the Steelhawks in the first game they played each other but the Steelhawks were able to lock that down the next time the teams met. Key to that are DL Larry Ford (7th in the league in sacks with 7.5) and LB Terence Thomas (2nd in the league in forced fumbles). Lehigh Valley's ability create turnovers while protecting the ball (leads the league in turnover differential with a +12 margin) keeps the Steelhawks in games and ever threatening to pull away.
The Steelhawks and Raiders will face off in a PIFL Monday Night Football game on July 1st, at 7 p.m. EST. Fans interested in watching the game on Monday can log onto the PIFL website (www.proifl.com) and click on the Richmond Raiders' UStream link on the front page.
It is possible for the Steelhawks to host the PIFL Championship, with a LV and Albany victory over top seeded Alabama. Should these things happen; Steelhawks front office personnel will notify all season and single game ticket holders with information for purchasing playoff tickets. All tickets would be $10 for the matchup, first come first serve for best seats.
