Lehigh retains men's Presidents' Cup; finishes third overall

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh finished third in the final Patriot League Presidents' Cup standings announced Monday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks won a school-record five Patriot League titles in the 2012-13 academic year, en route to their fourth straight top three Presidents' Cup finish. Lehigh won the men's trophy for the second straight year, while the Mountain Hawk women finished third.
Bucknell captured the overall Presidents' Cup, winning four championships and accumulating 120.25 points to edge Navy by half a point. The Bison won their 18th Presidents' Cup after Navy won its first title in 2011-12. Despite winning one more championship than in 2011-12, Lehigh dropped to third in 2012-13 with 107.75 points. The Mountain Hawks were second a year ago, marking its third runner-up finish and first in 11 years. Lehigh has never won the Presidents' Cup.
On the men's side, Lehigh edged Bucknell by one point, 58-57 to win the men's trophy for a second straight year. Four of Lehigh's five 
Patriot League titles came from men's sports, with men's cross country and men's tennis claiming their first ever titles, men's golf winning their first since 1997 and men's lacrosse capturing their second straight. The men's lacrosse team doubled up winning both the Patriot League regular season and tournament crowns. Lehigh has now won the men's trophy five times.

Navy's women posted a seven point victory over Bucknell by a 70.25-63.25 score with Lehigh finishing third at 49.75 points. The Mountain Hawks claimed the inaugural Patriot League Championship in women's golf and won another regular season title in softball. The women's soccer and volleyball teams both reached the Patriot League semifinals, while the track and field team finished third at both the indoor and outdoor league championship meet.
Presidents' Cup points are based on a team's performance in the regular season and postseason. Lehigh finished 12 points behind second place Navy and 8.5 ahead of fourth place Army. Colgate finished in fifth place, followed in order by Holy Cross, Lafayette and American.
