"En Garde"

Recently in the month of February, Fencing competed at the Swarthmore Invitational Tournament. The tournament consisted of 7 teams: Navy, UVA, Swarthmore, PSU, Miami, Lehigh, and Pittsburgh and after a hard fought battle the club placed 6th overall. The best individual placement for the club was Patrick Penderville who got 7th out of 27 in Men's foil competition.

Lehigh's Fencing Club will take place in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament on March 23 in Virginia before finishing the season.

With Lehigh's NCAA Div. 1 team a thing of the past, Lehigh University's Fencing Club has fought to keep fencing's place in the Lehigh community. The Fencing Club is open to all students regardless of past experience and is focused on teaching and enjoying the sport, catering to both competitive and noncompetitive members. A USFA club team, members choosing to compete can take part in all events the Philadelphia area has to offer including prestigious tournaments such as Temple Open. A club run completely by students, Lehigh Fencing survives through the interest of the student body. The club has graduated many of the fencers who lead the club to its 2nd place finish in Men's Epee at the 2008 U.S. Association of Collegiate Fencing Clubs National Championship and is currently trying to rebuild and inspire interest in the sport around Lehigh's campus. The club meets two to three times a week with most competitions during the weekend for those who choose to compete. The club is co-ed and is currently epee and saber focused though teams change depending on membership. Based on equipment needs and tournament fees, among other costs, the club does require dues be paid, and actively fund-raises on campus to supplement the funds it receives from the university.
