Lehigh fifth as league announces initial Presidents' Cup standings

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its initial Presidents' Cup standings on Thursday with Lehigh sitting in fifth place overall at the completion of the fall season. Lehigh checks in with 35.75 points and is tied for fourth in the men's overall standings with 14 points. The Mountain Hawk women stand in fourth place as well with 20.5 points.
Navy currently leads the standings with 42.25 points, after capturing titles in men's cross country and soccer, and finished tied for first in the regular season while making the championship game in women's soccer. American finished second with 41.25 points, followed in order by Bucknell, Boston University, Lehigh, Army Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette and Loyola.
Lehigh men's cross country program finished in second place this year at the Patriot League Championship, while football had an impressive 8-3 season and tied for second in the league standings with a 4-2 mark. Navy leads the men's standings with 20 points followed by Bucknell and Army. The Mountain Hawks are tied for fourth with Holy Cross at 14 points.
In the women's standings, American is out in front with 27.5 points followed by Boston University, and Navy. Lehigh sits in fourth place with 20.5 points. The Mountain Hawks qualified for the Patriot League Tournament in volleyball and the cross country team also finished in second at the Patriot League Championship, for their best finish since 2000.
Presidents' Cup points are based by a team's performance in the regular season and postseason. Lehigh has yet to capture the Presidents' Cup, but the Mountain Hawks finished second overall in 2012 and took third last year. Lehigh has won the men's trophy in each of the last two years.
