BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Coming off five straight wins heading into the holiday break, the Lehigh men's basketball team returns to action on Monday for its final nonleague game as the Mountain Hawks head to Bryant. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. It's a battle of two postseason teams from a season ago as Lehigh won 21 games and Bryant 19, both advancing to the College Basketball Invitational.

Monday night's game will be televised  locally by Cox Sports and can be seen online (for free) through the Cox Sports website and NEC Front Row.

The Mountain Hawks defeated Quinnipiac last Saturday (Dec. 21) by a 69-58 final, taking as much as a 22-point second-half lead before picking up their third win by double figures this season (also Rider and Sacred Heart). The win gave Lehigh 1,000 victories in program history, this coming in Brett Reed's 200th career game as head coach. It was also the Mountain Hawks' eighth straight win at home dating back to last season.

A balanced attack was led by freshman Tim Kempton who scored 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Sophomore Jesse Chuku added 11 while junior Corey Schaefer scored 10 - his fifth straight game with double-figure points, which coincides with the team's winning streak. Senior Mackey McKnight, junior Conroy Baltimore and freshman Austin Price each added nine points. Incredibly, no Mountain Hawk had double-figure shot attempts as the team spread the ball around nicely. Baltimore's nine points tied a career high in his return after missing four games due to injury. For the fifth time this season, Lehigh didn't trail in a wire-to-wire win.

Despite battling first-half foul trouble, McKnight dished five assists to reach 456 for his career. In doing so, he passed Scott Layer for second in school history, only trailing Marquis Hall's 566. Kempton led the way with seven rebounds while Chuku and freshman Shane Whitfield added five apiece. The Mountain Hawks hung tough on the boards against the nation's third best rebounding team (in average margin). Last Saturday marked the sixth time this season Lehigh has allowed fewer than 70 points and the Mountain Hawks are 6-0 in those games.

Lehigh's five straight wins tie its longest winning streak since last season (Jan. 8 through Jan. 23) beginning with a win over Muhlenberg and running through a big Patriot League victory at Bucknell.

Lehigh has won two of the first three meetings all-time against Bryant, winning the first-ever matchup on Nov. 28, 2010 by an 88-68 final before winning on the road 72-55 on Dec. 31, 2011. The Bulldogs came to Stabler Arena last season and snatched an 80-79 win. Bryant scored the go-ahead basket with 1.3 seconds remaining for the victory, overcoming C.J. McCollum's 34 points.

Bryant enters with a 7-7 record coming off a tough loss at Binghamton Saturday. The Bulldogs began the season 6-2, but have dropped five of their last six games with their only win coming over Navy at home. Bryant has played a challenging schedule, opening the season at Gonzaga, playing at Ohio State and Notre Dame (among others). The Bulldogs lost by only 11 to the Irish. Bryant is 4-1 at home and 3-6 away from home. Dyami Starks is one of the nation's leading scorers, averaging 21.3 points per game. Alex Francis averages 17.0 and a team-leading 6.6 rebounds while Corey Maynard comes in at 10.8 points and 4.5 boards. Of note, Boston College's all-time winningest coach Al Skinner is in his first year as assistant at Bryant.

Lehigh returns to action in three days when it travels to Colgate to open Patriot League play against the Raiders. Tipoff on Thursday (Jan. 2) is set for 7 p.m.
