BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's basketball team hits the road for game three of its five-game road swing when it travels to Pittsburgh to play the Panthers as part of the Legends Classic. Tipoff on Wednesday is set for 7:30 p.m. live on ESPNU and WatchESPN. This marks the second straight season the Mountain Hawks play at Pittsburgh in a preseason tournament, with both games nationally-televised on ESPNU. Pitt is in its first year in the ACC; the last time Lehigh played an ACC squad, the Mountain Hawks pulled off a historic upset over Duke in the 2012 NCAA Tournament.

The Mountain Hawks enter with a 1-3 record, but played a pair of extremely tight games against quality opponents last weekend. Lehigh was leading into the second half at Fordham Friday then came back to take a late second-half lead at Houston Sunday. However, the Cougars staged an 11-0 run to pull away in the opener of the Progressive Legends Classic.

Senior Mackey McKnight wrapped up an outstanding weekend with 45 points and 12 assists to earn honorable mention recognition on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. He eclipsed 400 career assists on Friday at Fordham and moved into fifth place in school history in career assists with his seven helpers on Sunday. He also upped his career point total to 973, looking to become the fourth Mountain Hawk in as many seasons to eclipse 1,000.

Junior Conroy Baltimore enjoyed a strong game on Sunday, scoring six points while adding a career-high 13 rebounds. Freshmen Austin Price and Tim Kempton each reached double-figure points with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Lehigh trailed by as many as 13 points late in the first half, but the Mountain Hawks fought back to take as much as a four-point lead with 7:41 remaining. Lehigh led by one in the final four minutes, but Houston went on an 11-0 run to take control.

Pittsburgh enters with a 3-0 record, all by 21 points or more. The Panthers mark the second 2013 NCAA Tournament the Mountain Hawks will face, as they could play as many as three more. The first team was Minnesota, while Lehigh could also play South Dakota State (next week) then will play LIU Brooklyn and Bucknell as well.

The ACC is in the midst of some major shakeups, most notably the additions of Pittsburgh, Notre Dame and Syracuse this year. The last time Lehigh played an ACC team, the Mountain Hawks earned a historic upset over Duke in the NCAA Tournament on March 16, 2012. The Mountain Hawks became the sixth No. 15 seed all-time to beat a No. 2 seed and second that day (following Norfolk State's win over Missouri). Florida Gulf Coast became the seventh No. 15 seed to win with its victory over Georgetown last year.

Lehigh leads the all-time series against Pitt, 5-4 with its five wins coming in the early 1900s. The Panthers have won two straight games, in 1919-20 then last November by a 78-53 final. Lehigh won the first-ever meeting between the two sides in 1912-13, winning 39-25.

Pittsburgh enters with a 3-0 record, owning convincing victories over Savannah State, Fresno State and Howard. The Panthers lost some standouts from last year's squad, including center Steven Adams who went to the NBA after one season. Lamar Patterson leads this year with 12.7 points and 5.0 rebounds. Talib Zanna has 11.5 points and 6.5 boards while Cameron Wright has 10.7 points and 2.3 rebounds. The Panthers have impressed on the glass, owning a 42.7 to 25.7 advantage. They are shooting 50.3 percent from the field this season while opponents come in at just 34.6.

The Mountain Hawks will continue the Legends Classic when they travel to South Dakota to face Texas Southern next Monday then either host South Dakota State or Howard on Tuesday.
