
Lehigh heads to Army for big Patriot League showdown

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's soccer team returns to Patriot League play when it travels to West Point, N.Y. on Saturday to face Army. Opening kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. The Mountain Hawks enter the game 1-4-0 in league play (for three points) and stand just two points behind the 1-2-2 Black Knights. Lehigh is coming off a 2-1 midweek loss at Princeton, but is eying its second straight Patriot League victory after a 1-0 win over Loyola last Saturday.

Lehigh is coming off a tough 2-1 loss to Princeton on Wednesday. The Mountain Hawks scored the game's first goal, but the Tigers scored the final two, including the game-winner in the 89th minute.

Junior Darby Wiegand gave Lehigh a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute, coming off a succession of passes from senior Paige Dyrek to freshman Brinn McClennan. However, Princeton tied the score in the 57th minute off a header. Sophomore Ani Nahapetian made five saves on the evening and holds a .727 save percentage heading into Saturday's match. She has split time with junior Ashley Blanks, who owns a stellar .860 save percentage and 1.15 goals against average.

Senior Murphee Greeley and junior Danielle Salans lead the Mountain Hawks with seven points on the season. Greeley is tied for seventh in the league and leads the team with 30 shots.

Owning a 1-2-2 league record and 5-6-3 overall mark, Army has lost three of its last five games and tied the other two. Most recently, the Black Knights tied American last weekend. Kim An leads the team with 12 points behind five goals and two assists. Katie Holden owns seven points (three goals, one assist) while Candace Stewart and Molly McGuigan have five apiece (two goals, one assist). Jordan Cassalia has played all but six minutes in goal, owning a 1.02 GAA and .750 save percentage.

Army owns the all-time series edge, 16-5-4. The Mountain Hawks last beat Army in the 2010 Patriot League Championship Game, which took place in West Point.

Following Saturday's game, Lehigh will head to Annapolis, Maryland next Wednesday to play Navy in its final road game of the season.
