BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's soccer team will look to capture its first Patriot League win when it hosts rival Lafayette on Wednesday. Both sides enter 0-2-0 in league play with the winner getting a leg up heading into the remainder of the season. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and will be aired on the Patriot League Network.

Lehigh is coming off a strong game against Penn, playing to a 1-1 tie despite being outshot 27-7. The Mountain Hawks had several good chances despite the shot disparity. Lehigh pulled out a positive result after entering 1-13-0 all-time against the Quakers. The game came less than 48 hours after a tough overtime loss to Bucknell at home.

Lehigh took an early 2-0 lead against the Bison Friday night with goals coming from sophomore Katie Centeno and freshman Laura Courtney. Bucknell fought back to score twice in the second half before closing it out in the first overtime.

Then on Sunday, the Mountain Hawks' goal against the Quakers came off the foot of junior Danielle Salans, assisted by senior Murphee Greeley. The goal came in the 31st minute and put Lehigh up 1-0. Penn was able to tie the score midway through the second half, but the Lehigh defense played well through two overtimes to close out the game with the teams even. Junior goalie Ashley Blanks impressed in goal, making nine saves.

Salans and Greeley are now tied for the team lead in points on the season with five apiece. Salans leads in goals with two while Greeley has dished a team-leading three assists. With her team-leading 445 minutes in goal, Blanks boasts an impressive 0.81 goals against average and 89.5 save percentage.

Seven of Lehigh's remaining eight regular season games come against Patriot League foes.

Lafayette enters Wednesday with a 4-4-1 overall record. The Leopards are coming off a 1-0 home loss to Navy that saw the offense stymied with just three shots. Lafayette is averaging one goal per game while giving up an average of 1.22. Junior Alyssa Finelli leads the team with six points on the season behind two goals and two assists.

Wednesday's game marks the 23rd all-time meeting between the two teams, with the Mountain Hawks owning a 14-6-2 advantage in the series. Lafayette defeated Lehigh last season for the second straight time, winning 1-0.

Following Wednesday's showdown, Lehigh heads to Boston University on Saturday to take on one of the new members of the Patriot League. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
